Stone Age to the Iron Age

Crystal Palace Park week commencing 6th January 2020

At the beginning of term, we started our new topic the Stone Age, by taking part in a fantastic walk back in time at Crystal Palace Park.

We journeyed along a timeline, visiting the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic and the Iron Ages.

We were cast as Stone Age hunter gatherers and worked in teams to build shelters, make tools, ‘set’ fires and create joining settlements. We discovered the art of bartering for tools and services, as well as hunting for our food.

As we moved into the Iron Age, we were shown how tin was smelted and placed in moulds to create different objects.

It was an amazing immersion into a different time, where we practised our team building and innovative skills and definitely our resilience!
