Kilmorie Primary School was built in 1990 (we celebrate our birthday with a special assembly and cakes!). It is a one and a half form entry school, which means that we take in 45 children a year. Our classes are mixed ages with 15 from one age group and 15 from another (for example at the moment we have classes with children from Year 1 and Year 2 in them).

We believe that no one ever stops learning and place a great deal of importance on continuing staff development. We have an Investor’s in People Award, which was renewed in 2005.

Kilmorie has a lively program of extracurricular activities which add an extra dimension to children’s learning. We have a Gold Arts Mark Award and a Sports Mark which reflect our commitment to the creative curriculum, the sports curriculum and our belief that learning should be fun.

Kilmorie also hasthe Healthy Schools Award and as part of this every child received a water bottle which they may use in class.

We believe that learning should be fun, purposeful and exciting. All children are valued, challenged and actively involved in the life of the school. We have an active school council who meet weekly to discuss issues brought up in class, they also organise an annual ‘Pupils’ Day’ where the children run the school! Secondary school teachers often remark that Kilmorie children are recognisable by their confidence, which makes us very proud.

We have an open door policy and encourage parents and carers to become involved in the life of the school. Our ‘Friends of Kilmorie’ are very active and run a number of social events during the year as well as an always popular Christmas Fair.
