Kilmorie Primary School Newsletter - 17th January 2025

Friday 17th January 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you have had a good week. This week we have been hit by a variety of bugs.  Can I remind you that if your child has a sickness bug, it is advised that they should stay off school for 48 hours after the last “incident.”  This is to prevent the virus spreading to other children and other families.

My assembly this week was based on Lohri, a popular Punjabi folk festival.  Sikhs and Hindus celebrate the passing of the winter solstice and the collection of the harvest.  I spoke about the traditions of the festival and made links / similarities to celebrations of other cultures.

Sarah R's Class enjoyed a day out to the National Maritime Museum. They took part in a Viking Workshop where they learnt lots about Vikings and handled replica artefacts. They then pretended that they were Viking traders and tried to barter with a trader from Constantinople. Year 4 were very good at bartering!

The highlight of the trip for many, was getting to play in the Kraken playground at the museum. A fun day out was had by all and lots of learning too.

OPAL

Staff at Kilmorie had an INSET introducing OPAL play.  It is a very exciting project for the school.  Please click Here to view an introductory letter.

Last week I sent out a survey to give the school a baseline for the start of our OPAL project.  If you haven’t already done so, please could you complete the following survey. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1yDqcVpc6PCWeAM9Fle1_ppcVrnwvw_dkfUGlGcwcnww/edit?usp=sharing

Every year we conduct a parental survey so that we can get a flavour of viewabout aspects of school life, I would be grateful if you could complete this year’s survey by clicking here.
