Kilmorie Primary School Newsletter - 05th December 2025

Friday 05th Decemeber 2025

What an incredible start to the festive season! A huge thank you to the Friends of Kilmorie and every single person who helped make our Winter Fair such a magical event. The school was filled with laughter, twinkling lights, and the wonderful spirit of community.

I’ve received so many lovely compliments from members of our local community, even those with no current links to the school, which shows just how special the day was.

To all the families who donated gifts, baked treats, gave their time, and contributed funds: thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your generosity helped us raise much-needed funds for Friends of Kilmorie, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

It looked like the parents and carers who participated in the Wreath Making last night had a wonderful, festive time!

Here’s to a season of joy, togetherness, and celebration! 🌟

Cookie Competition Winners

A big thank you to all those children who entered the Cookie Contest.  I had a very enjoyable time tasting the lovely treats.  It was a very difficult decision – but here are the winners.  I will hand out the prizes on Monday.

    Celebrating Kindness and Differences

At our school, we believe that kindness is at the heart of everything we do. Every child has the right to be respected and valued, as highlighted by our UNICEF’s Rights Respecting School initiative. We encourage everyone to celebrate what makes us unique and never mock or tease others for their differences. Kindness doesn’t stop at the school gates – it matters on the walk to school, at clubs, in the park, and everywhere we go. By showing empathy and understanding, we create a safe and happy environment where every child can thrive. Let’s all continue to work together to make kindness our daily habit!

Articles of the Month for December

Our Articles of the Month for December are Articles 2 and 23 and link to International Day of People with Disabilities, which is celebrated on 3 December.  This global event promotes equality for people with disability and celebrates their achievements.  It is a day to promote awareness of the challenges faced by people living with disabilities and the role schools, communities and societies play in breaking down barriers to inclusion.  We spent time discussing what ‘disability’ means and understanding that some disabilities can be seen and some can’t.  We explored the meaning of ‘dignity’ and focussed on the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect.

Article 2 states: The Convention applies to every child without discrimination, whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities or any other status, whatever they think or say, whatever their family background.

Article 23 states: A child with a disability has the right to live a full and decent life with dignity and, as far as possible, independence and to play an active part in the community.

As an addition to last week’s news about our Silver Aware award.  Our journey to the Rights Respecting School started from a suggestion from the Community Allies.  Thank you.

OPAL

Over the weekend, a few members of staff will be developing our OPAL provision – making resources and grouping equipment.

However, we would be grateful for donations of `sand` toys such as buckets, small shovels, spoons, cookie cutters.  Also, if you have a `spare ` broom!?

✨Kilmorie Qualities ✨

On Monday we had our termly Kilmorie Qualities Assembly.  It is always a wonderful celebration of children who have really demonstrated our Kilmorie Qualities, both those nominated and those that one the cups.  It is always difficult for teachers to nominate just one child and a harder job choosing a winner.  This time Martha asked our Pupil Parliament to get suggestions from children on how we can choose just one winner effectively.
