Kilmorie Primary School Newsletter - 12th June 2026

Friday 12th June 2026

Dear all,

Last Friday’s Pride Picnic was a wonderful celebration of music and fun. A huge thank you to the Friends of Kilmorie for organising such a joyful event—we were lucky that the rain held off! We now look forward to this evening’s Community Allies Picnic, where we celebrate the diversity of our school community together.

This week has, as always, been a busy and rewarding one. Well done to our Year 1 and Year 2 pupils, who have completed their Phonics Screening Check, and to our Year 4 children who have undertaken the Multiplication Tables Check—you have all shown great effort and resilience.

There have also been some exciting visits. Year 2 enjoyed a trip to Dulwich Picture Gallery, while Year 3 visited the Buddhist Centre, enriching their learning beyond the classroom. Alongside this, we have been celebrating International Week. The children have loved exploring the history, culture and artwork of different countries—I have certainly learnt a great deal myself!

A number of parents have been asking me about the next academic year.  We are currently finalising our plans for 2026/27 and will let parents know as soon as those plans are complete.  This year we have scheduled more transition times for the children to meet their new teacher.

Hopefully, the weather improves over the weekend so everyone can enjoy some well-earned time outdoors.

Thursday 18th June kicks off a week of music celebrations for World Music Day (21st June) with our school band performing at the end of the school day. To further celebrate World Music Day and raise money for our music department, the children are invited to come into school on Wednesday 24th June dressed as either their favourite artist or a song that represents who they are. We ask that each child donates £1 which will go towards our music department.

Don’t forget to look in the Peaceful Pod for lost property.  The small lost property cupboard is filling up again with things lost over the last 2 weeks.

ASI Nagpur's annual schools event scheduled in October - Nagpur Today ...

Over the past few months, we have held a number of events outdoors, which have been hugely enjoyable and a fantastic way to come together as a school community.

May I kindly ask that, at these events—such as Sports Day, picnics and the Summer Fair—rubbish is disposed of responsibly and that children are supervised, particularly at events taking place outside of school hours. We are very fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who help run these occasions; however, they often spend a considerable amount of time at the end of events clearing up litter left behind by others.

Your support in helping to keep our school environment clean and safe is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all parents and carers who have already submitted their child’s GP details following the email sent on 11th June.

There are still a few parents/carers who have not yet provided this information. If you could please take a moment to update us at your earliest convenience, we would greatly appreciate it.

It is important that these details are submitted by Monday 22nd June.

Another record amount raised at the Pride Picnic

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Pride Picnic on 5 June. You helped us raise a whopping £1,342.

We want to give a special shout out to fellow parent, Michael.G.Moore - The Piano Animal, who wowed everyone, and got us all up and dancing. Just brilliant!

We’re so chuffed to have raised such a significant amount to add to our pot! We’ll let you know just much we’ve raised in total and how the school intend to spend the money closer towards the end of the school year.

For now – we just want to say – your support is amazing and THANK YOU! Check out some images from the event on our Instagram post.
