As we reach the final week of the term, we have enjoyed a wonderful series of events that have given us the opportunity to celebrate the achievements, talents and contributions of our whole school community.  

We have recently received our much-improved Phonics Screening Check results and our Key Stage 2 SATS results, which exceed national figures in Reading and Maths, and reflect the hard-work and focus of the staff and pupils. 

On Tuesday and Wednesday, children across the school were treated to our fantastic performances of Shrek, with Years 2, 4 and 6 attending on Tuesday and Years 1, 3 and 5 on Wednesday. I was incredibly proud of all the children involved. Year after year, I am continually amazed by the confidence, talent and enthusiasm displayed in these performances. They are always a highlight of the school year and this year's production was no exception. Thank you to all the parents, carers and staff who supported the children throughout the process, and a special thank you to Rebecca, Eleni and Alice for their hard work and dedication in bringing the production to life. 

Year 6 leavers farewell

On Thursday, we held our Year 6 Leavers' Assembly, a chance to celebrate the many achievements of our oldest pupils as they prepare for the next stage of their education. The children will be greatly missed at Kilmorie and we thank them for their hard work, enthusiasm and the positive contribution they have made throughout their time at the school. We were very pleased by their SATs results.  They have been wonderful role models for our younger pupils and we wish them every success in the future. I would also like to thank our Year 6 parents and carers for their support over the years. Working in partnership with families is such an important part of what makes Kilmorie special, and we are grateful for all the encouragement and support you have given both your children and the school.

On Friday, we said goodbye to a number of valued members of staff. In particular, we celebrated the remarkable contributions of Carole, who has been part of the Kilmorie family for 25 years, and Alessandra, who has been with us for 19 years. Their dedication and commitment have touched the lives of countless children and families. I would like to thank all the staff who are leaving us this year, regardless of how long they have been at Kilmorie, for the positive impact they have had on the development, learning and wellbeing of our children. 

During assembly, I also took the opportunity to thank the many volunteers who support our school. This includes the Friends of Kilmorie, our library team, the parents who support with sports and reading, those who help by opening and locking the school, and our Community Allies. The time, energy and commitment that these volunteers give to Kilmorie enriches the experiences of our children and strengthens our school community. They have given us so much support this year, and we are extremely grateful for everything they do. 

As we come to the end of another successful year, I would like to thank all members of the Kilmorie community for their continued support and wish everyone a happy, restful and enjoyable summer break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September.

Kilmorie Win the League! 

Just like the mighty Arsenal  - Kilmorie have had success on the football field.  Through the results of all our football teams combined we have won the League for our area.  Well done to all the children involved.  We finished with 20 points  - one point ahead of the next three teams.

National Youth Music Festival Little Stars, Big Sounds in Birmingham. 

On Friday the 10th July our talented year 6 Djembe ensemble took part in the National Youth Music Festival Little Stars, Big Sounds in Birmingham. They were absolutely fantastic and the music mentors who  gave them feedback couldn't have given them better feedback it was all incredibly positive. Congratulations - Jayden, Gus, Harees, Enzo, Leo, Cian, Liseli, Betsy, Harley, Vivi!

Great British Summer Savings – Message from RT HON Bridget Phillipson MP – Secretary of State for Education. 

Rising prices can make life's little treats harder to afford, especially during the school holidays when costs build up for families. This Government is determined to help, and that is why last month the Chancellor announced the Great British Summer Savings scheme. 

From 25 June to 1 September 2026, the Government is temporarily cutting VAT from 20% to 5% on children's meals in restaurants, children and family tickets to cinemas, theatres, concerts and exhibitions, and admission to a wide range of attractions. Combined with free bus travel during August for children aged 5 to 15 in England, families and young people will be able to enjoy experiences that make summer special, including visits to the kinds of cultural and educational attractions that enrich children's lives outside the classroom. 

As part of this campaign, we have launched an attraction finder website which allows families to type in their postcode and find participating venues near them to make the most of summer savings. To use the attraction finder, please visit https://summersavings.gov.uk. 

Lewisham Council - Holiday activities and food programme 

 

Free School Meal from the September 2026 FSM eligability will be expanded to all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit, regardless of the household's earnings. Please click here for further information

Dr Bike 

Dr Bike sessions are sessions for the community a chance to have their bikes checked over by a mechanic to ensure they are roadworthy.  Please see the attached document for locations over the summer.

As the school year comes to a close, we'd like to give a huge shout-out to the 15 fantastic parents, carers and staff who will be taking on a half marathon on Sunday 6th September to raise money for Friends of Kilmorie. This year has been so much fun and we’ve finished another set of successful events thanks to the support from our amazing community.

As you may know, Emma our Chair, Hayley our Creative Lead, Ian our Treasurer and Helena Deputy Chair and Comms (that’s me!) are stepping down after two years we’re really proud of!

We wanted to say a big thank you to our lovely committee members for their support, to Dennis and the teachers for getting behind us, and to all of you for getting involved and being so supportive of the FoK fundraising efforts!

We’re absolutely chuffed that we’ve topped our record from last year and we’re able to hand over a heathy pot for the school to utilise next year.

Dennis is looking at where best to spend the money you helped us raise and in September the new team should be able to share the plan! As a reminder - here is where last year’s funds were used.

A final call before you go; we have some amazing parents who have signed up to join the committee for the next academic year, however, we don’t have anyone to take over the Chair/Co-Chair/Deputy Chair roles yet - so there is no one to lead the group.

The committee has agreed to keep going and are working out how to do things differently as it will impact the kind of events they will be able to put on. They will be in touch in September to (re)introduce themselves and explain the changes, however if anyone is interested in those roles, please get in touch through your Class Reps ASAP.
