Dennis

Another busy week at Kilmorie.

Monday started with a fantastic Indian Dance session for children in the Early Phase.  The children enjoyed learning the Bollywood dance moves and styles.  Dance has been a theme this week; I was put through my paces when I taught Year 3 on Wednesday as Crystal’s class explored the theme of forces in their dance session.   Educational visits continued this week – Shipra's class visited Deptford Creek for their topic on rivers.

One of our Kilmorie Qualities is independence and we would like our children to be independent in both their learning but also in their life skills.  We have noticed a number of parents ‘parking’ their child’s scooter or bicycle.  Can we ask that the children, certainly those in Years 3 to 6, store their own vehicles.

Senior Leader Assembly.

The focus of Monday’s senior leader assembly was World Earth Day. I spoke to the children about the history of World Earth Day and the motivation behind its inception in 1970.  I spoke about this year’s focus - “Planet Vs Plastics”.  I showed his age by talking about the days when supermarkets gave out free plastic bags.  I discussed the ecological impact that plastic bags have on the world and the motivation behind reusing shopping bags today.  I proudly wore my Arsenal strip but highlighted that the top itself was made from recycled materials.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Have a lovely weekend,

Dennis

Celebrations

In this week's Celebration Assembly, we celebrated...

Child's Name Celebrating...
Year 1 - Remke For her beautiful artwork that she made on our trip to the Dulwich picture gallery last week.
Year 1 - Aster  For her learning in maths. She worked confidently with her peers this week to complete the learning tasks.
Year 1 -Yaqub For his learning and engagement during Art yesterday. Well done.
Year 1 - Mia For her motivation and resilience towards learning.
Year 2 - Xander  For performing a poem at the Bromley Festival of Music and Speech. He received an Honours certificate for his recital.
Year 2 - Abraham  For working on his independence. He is trying to have a go at activities without support. He wrote an amazing story about a sailor and a drone all by himself.
Year 2 - Adam For his positive learning behaviour, he has been challenging himself in maths, using what he knows to answer problems. He has also been focusing on his handwriting, which is brilliant.
Year 2 - Milo For showing such resilience through the year. He always takes on challenging work with a smile on his face.
Year 2 - Ava For fantastic writing and using the most interesting adjectives in her work.
Year 3 - Artur  For trying hard to maintain focus and improve his listening, which has resulted in ongoing progress in his work.  Also for trying hard to use neat, joined handwriting.
Year 3 - Matilda  For always trying her best, making excellent contributions and making great progress in maths.  Also for always producing quality writing, which is a pleasure to read.
Year 3 - Edith For settling back into school so well and being a continuous role model for everyone. Since getting back, she has shown me that she is always ready to learn and engage in classroom discussions.
Year 3 - Alex D  For being an asset to the class and taking ownership of his learning-going home and researching when writing was invented and sharing his findings with the class.
Year 5 - Abdoul For his fantastic work and attitude towards his learning in and out of the classroom.
Year 5 - Gabriel For his fantastic work and learning behaviour, which has helped him really progress with his creative writing.

Please do let us know as soon as possible if you have any objections to this by contacting info@kilmorie.lewisham.sch.uk FAO Tully Update and we will keep a record of this.
