The end of our first full week!

A big hello to our new Nursery and Reception children and parents.  It has been lovely to see you and welcome you to the Kilmorie Community.

The children and staff have been settling into the new school timetable, and it has been wonderful to see how quickly the children have settled.  My assembly this week was around the theme of resilience. I celebrated the success of the Lionesses in the European Championships and emphasised the resilience they had to show to win the tournament. They had to combat the loss of experienced teammates, racial abuse, having to come back after falling behind, as well as losing the first match and the negativity it attracted.  I also spoke about George Foreman, the boxer, and spoke about his story and the resilience he had to show throughout his life.

This year I would like to celebrate our work through the use of Instagram.  We aim to highlight the work we do, both in and out of the curriculum using this medium.  Please bear with us as we start (restart) our Instagram work.

Instrumental lessons for 2025-26:

RRSA_Evidence Report_Nov 2020v2 - Rights Respecting Schools Award

RRSA

We are looking forward to continuing our Rights Respecting journey this school year.  Each class has already been very busy creating their Rights Respecting Class Charter.  Together they explored and chose the articles which are the most important to their class and agreed actions that the children and adults in the class will take to ensure that these rights are realised and respected.  Creating charters can support a positive learning environment for children in the classroom where rights are respected, protected and promoted.

During Tuesday’s Right Respecting assembly Kate introduced the children to ‘The ABCDE of Children’s Rights’:

Learning about the nature of rights helps to ensure that the language used about rights across the whole school community is both accurate and informed.

In October our articles of the month will be linked to Black History Month.
