Kilmorie Primary School Newsletter - 19th September 2025

Friday 19th September 2025

A busy week as normal.  We started the week with an assembly in support of Lewisham food bank.  Lewisham Foodbank | Helping Local People in Crisis  If you can support with donations (please see my email from earlier in the week) we would be grateful.  I have had many productive conversations over the last few weeks with groups that represent our community and the local area, such as the Governors, the Friends of Kilmorie and the Community Allies.  We have been discussing our plans for the future to make the school even more vibrant and inclusive.  It has been very exciting.

Old Book Bags

We kindly ask families to donate any old Kilmorie book bags that are still in good condition—these will be greatly appreciated and reused within the school community.

If you hadn’t heard Naomi has had her baby. Naomi says “Fabian Anashe John Chindove has been enjoying lots of love, cuddles and attention and Anoona has been very helpful in looking after her new baby brother!”

A gentle reminder that the playground equipment such as the Monkey Bars is not to be used after school hours for safety reasons.

Please ensure children wear only stud earrings and avoid wearing necklaces and chains.  Children should not bring smart watches into school. They can wear watches that only tell the time!  We also ask that no expensive or valuable items be brought into school to prevent loss or damage.

Employee Attendance Sheet: Templates, Alternatives (2021) - Running Remote

At Kilmorie, we believe that every school day counts! Regular attendance helps children make the most of their learning, build strong friendships, and feel part of our vibrant school community. We encourage all families to support good attendance by ensuring children arrive on time and attend every day unless they are genuinely unwell.

Please remember that holidays during term time should be avoided and will not be authorised, as they can significantly disrupt a child’s progress. Let’s work together to give every child the best chance to thrive—because being in school, every day, really does make a difference!

I attach a document from Lewisham outlining Penalty Notices and absence here.

I am grateful to Simon who shared the picture below with me.  A picture of Kilmorie from the Elsinore Road side taken after World War 2.  I wonder what the school looked like before the War!

?? Welcome to Year Two Bunting Multicoloured - Twinkl

If you have a child in Year 2 please can you drop off your child when the bell goes and move back towards school fence (under the wooden walkway).  Some of the children in the Year group are getting a little overwhelmed by the number of people around.

Packed Lunch

If your child brings in a packed lunch, can you ensure that it contains a balanced mix of foods and avoid packing them with lots of sugary items.  Also, please do not send in your child with flavoured water type drinks.  Plain water is fine.
