Friday 26th September 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a real privilege to teach across the school this term—from our curious Nursery children to our inquisitive Year 6s. Each classroom has been alive with learning, and it’s been wonderful to witness the creativity, enthusiasm, and growth happening in every corner of Kilmorie.

In Monday’s assembly, I had the opportunity to reflect on World Afro Day, which took place the previous week. We explored the importance of celebrating Afro hair, identity, and culture, and how embracing diversity enriches our school community. I also spoke about resilience—a quality that helps us face challenges with courage and determination, whether in the classroom, on the playground, or beyond.

We celebrated the achievements of the Red Roses, England’s women’s rugby team, who will be competing in the Rugby World Cup tomorrow. Their journey is a testament to teamwork and perseverance. I also shared the story of their opponents, Canada, who have overcome significant hurdles just to reach the tournament—reminding us that resilience is a global language.

Thank you for your continued support and for being part of such a vibrant and inspiring school. I look forward to all the learning and joy the coming weeks will bring.

Here is another blast from the past.

UNICEF Gold Rights Respecting School award achieved by St Martins ...

This week’s Rights Respecting Assembly linked our Pupil Parliament process with Article 12 – Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously.  The children thought about the importance of the pupil's voice and what they feel passionate about changing or improving at Kilmorie.

You should have received a letter about the Pupil Parliament process.  Voting will take place next week in years 2 to 6 for the following committees – Behaviour/Diversity, Teaching and Learning/Eco and Wellbeing – 3 representatives from each class.

The Rights Respecting Steering Group members will stay the same as last year to ensure continuity but we will be adding representatives from year 1. If your child would like to run for pupil parliament, please support them with putting together something to say to their class and respect their right to be heard.  Thank you.

It is Census Day on Thursday – it would be wonderful if all children have a school dinner on Thursday or at least have a piece of school fruit at lunchtime.  This will help our funding next year.

Chartwell’s have developed a special Census Menu!
