October Alphabet Letter with Maple Leaves Frame on Wooden Background ...

It’s been a vibrant start to the month here at Kilmorie Primary School, with lots of exciting events and celebrations taking place across the school.

To kick off Black History Month, our Year 1 children enjoyed a fantastic visit from the Freshwater Theatre Company, who brought history to life through engaging storytelling and drama. In Monday’s assembly, I introduced this year’s Black History Month themes: Pride and Power—two powerful ideas that will guide our learning and reflections throughout October.

We also took a moment to celebrate the Red Roses’ recent victory—a brilliant achievement that inspired lots of cheers and proud smiles across the school!

On Wednesday, we welcomed a group of neighbouring headteachers for a school visit. They were incredibly complimentary about the calm, productive atmosphere and were impressed by the vibrant new displays that showcase our children’s creativity and learning.

Finally, a quick reminder: you should have received an email about Parents’ Evening, which takes place during the week beginning Monday 13th October. Booking will open via Arbor on Monday 6th October at 7pm.

Census Day Special Menu – Rescheduled

On Census Day, Chartwells usually provides a special menu to encourage children to enjoy a school dinner. Unfortunately, due to a delivery issue, we were unable to offer the planned menu on the original day. We know many children were looking forward to the tasty lunch yesterday, and we’re very sorry for the disappointment caused.

We’re pleased to let you know that the special menu has now been rescheduled and will go ahead next Thursday 9th October.

Please see the menu below. If your child would like to have a school dinner on this day as a one-off, kindly inform the school office via email by Wednesday 8th October.

Year 5 - Storyteller

Year 5 had an Islamic Storyteller visit them this week to support their learning about Early Islamic Civilisation. She taught them a greeting in Arabic and how to write it in Arabic. She shared captivating stories such as King Mahmood and the Night Thieves, as well as the cunning Story of the Stolen Smell. The children were enthralled by her stories and the artefacts that she shared.

A Reminder About Road Safety on Kilmorie Road

With the start of the new school year, we’re delighted to see so many children arriving at school on bikes and scooters. It’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm and energy in the mornings!

However, we’d like to remind families that while Kilmorie Road is a School Street during certain hours, this does not mean it is completely closed to traffic. Residents and drivers who have parked before the restricted times are still permitted to use the road as normal.

We’ve noticed some concerning behaviour, including children racing up and down the road, riding towards oncoming traffic, and playing aimlessly in the street. These actions pose serious safety risks.

Please help us keep all children safe by reminding them to stay alert, use pavements where possible, and avoid playing in the road before and after school. Your support makes a big difference.

Thank you for helping us create a safer environment for everyone.

We are reaching out to kindly request a donation of Windows-compatible PC monitors to support our classroom technology upgrade. These monitors will be used to replace older units that have been in service for over six years and are now due for renewal. We are looking to replace 14 monitors.
