Kilmorie Primary School Newsletter - 10th October 2025

Friday 10th October 2025

It’s been a vibrant and eventful week at Kilmorie!

Our Year 2 and Year 3 children have been out and about on enriching educational visits — Year 2 explored the beauty and traditions of the Hindu Temple, while Year 3 enjoyed Blythe Hill as part of their Geography topic. We were also delighted to welcome prospective families for the first of our parent tours for the 2026 intake — it’s always a joy to share what makes Kilmorie so special.

Looking ahead, we’re preparing for Parents’ Evenings next week, a valuable opportunity to discuss how your child has settled into their new class. In assembly this week, we marked Black History Month by celebrating the inspiring story of Ian Wright, a local hero and personal inspiration.

Message from Eva

"We are going to have a Gardening Session on Sunday 19th October 10am to 12pm in the school gardens.  Everyone welcome, parents, carers and children, there'll be something for everyone to do whether it is sweeping, digging or pruning.  Please bring any garden tools you may have and a drink, biscuits will be provided and homemade cakes are always very welcome.  It's a lovely chance to meet other parents, get some fresh air and exercise and help improve our children's learning environment.

Gardening lessons have started, and the children have been learning about all the different areas, including the Time Garden shown in this photograph. This area includes the Gingko Biloba tree which has such beautiful leaves and with the grasses, bamboo and dinosaur footprints helps the children learn about the passage of time."

LAMDA Lessons at Kilmorie

*** LAMDA SPACES AVAILABLE FOR YEARS 1 AND 2 ***

Firstly, we would like to say a huge congratulations to those pupils who took their LAMDA exam last term. All pupils did incredibly well achieving lots of merits and distinctions!

LAMDA classes have got off to fantastic start at Kilmorie this term with all pupils receiving their first poem to take home and learn. In lessons, the pupils have discussed and analysed the poem together as a group and made up fun actions to each line to help with memorising the words. Over the next few weeks pupils will learn performance techniques including: projection, use of pitch/pace/pause and facial/vocal expression to create an engaging recital for an audience.

If you are interested in developing your child’s confidence and communication skills through LAMDA classes with us, please email  info@storyboxdrama.co.uk for a sign up form. Our classes are open to all pupils from Years 1-6.
