Friday  27th February 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to begin by expressing my heartfelt thanks for the kindness and support you have shown following my recent bereavement. My family and I have taken great comfort in your messages and compassion during what has been a very difficult time. I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to our dedicated staff and governors for their hard work and steadfast leadership in my absence.

As we reach the midpoint of the school year, it’s a natural moment to pause, reflect, and refocus. In assembly this week, I spoke with the children about the importance of pushing on in our learning of giving our very best so that, when we look back, we have no regrets about the effort, curiosity and thought we invested in our studies. This is a wonderful opportunity for every child to take pride in their progress and to set positive intentions for the months ahead.

A Reminder on Speaking to Staff Respectfully

At Kilmorie, we are fortunate to have a supportive whole school community with a dedicated team of teachers, support staff, and administrators who work tirelessly to create a positive, nurturing environment for all our children. As part of our commitment to maintaining a welcoming and safe school community, I would like to remind parents and carers of the importance of communicating with staff in a respectful and appropriate manner.

We understand that concerns or questions will naturally arise from time to time, and we always want to work in partnership with you to address them. However, it is essential that all conversations, whether in person, by phone, or via email, are conducted with courtesy and consideration. Our staff are here to help, and they deserve to be treated with the same respect that we expect children to show towards adults and towards one another.

If you ever feel worried or unsure about something, please know that we are here to listen and support you. Approaching staff calmly and constructively helps us resolve issues more effectively and ensures that the school remains a positive, supportive environment for everyone. Unacceptable behaviour and language, however, will not be tolerated.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Exciting news!

Kilmorie Primary School has been awarded 25 places in this year’s London Mini Marathon! Taking place on Saturday 23 April, over 20,000 children from across the UK will participate in this 1-mile run along part of the iconic London Marathon route, and we will be there!

This is such a great opportunity for our school and a fantastic way to celebrate all our hard efforts running the daily mile over the cold and wet winter months!

Watch out for an email in the next few weeks with details on how to enter to be on the Kilmorie team. And check out the Mini London Marathon website for more details about the event.

Road Safety

I have received emails from parents concerned about road safety for children.

These parents have noted that children from Kilmorie often cross the road, such as at the Elsinore / Vancover Road intersection without stopping and looking.  Please can you remind the children to take care crossing roads.  I will reinforce this message during assembly on Monday.

Additionally, it is good to see so many children wearing helmets when riding or scooting to school but if your child rides unsupervised to and from school then a helmet is a good idea.

The school will be having a Gardening Session on Sunday 1st March from 10am to 12pm. The photo shows the gardening crew who came in November to tidy the gardens for winter and did a great job.  We are now at the lovely stage that spring is approaching.  In the session we will prune, weed and tidy the gardens. It's a great chance to get to know our gardens and to meet other parents in a friendly and fun environment.  Whether you know a lot or a little about gardening you are welcome, please bring tools if you have them and cake donations are always welcome, bring a drink and suitable clothing for the weather.

At the moment the main garden project is growing daffodils bulbs with the Year 2 classes for a competition; the children are learning about bulbs and daffodils at the same time.  We are enjoying seeing daffodils start to appear around the school, the blossom has started to appear on our almond tree and the tulips are starting to grow, a very exciting time."
