Friday 06th March 2026

What a fantastic week it has been at Kilmorie! Our World Book Day celebrations brought an extra buzz of creativity and joy to the school. The children—and the adults! Arrived in the most wonderful, imaginative costumes, transforming our classrooms and corridors into a vibrant world of stories, characters, and adventures.

We were also delighted to welcome a range of inspiring visitors who led engaging assemblies and workshops throughout the week. Their passion for reading and storytelling helped bring books to life in new and exciting ways for our pupils.

A huge “Thank You” goes to our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and enthusiastic volunteers. Your hard work and encouragement played a big part in making the week such a rich and memorable experience for everyone.

To complement this the Library Team would like to say:  “Thank you everyone for your support with the World Book Day book sale yesterday and to let everyone know that we will be restocking for another sale after school on Tuesday next week (10th). We’ll be accepting cash, cards and tokens!”

Trip to Dulwich Picture Gallery – Year 1 went to Dulwich Picture Gallery this week for an art workshop inspired by nature.  The children had the opportunity to explore and discuss paintings in the Gallery before experimenting with a variety of materials and skills to create their own artwork with very impressive results.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped at last week’s disco.  Your help at making this event such as success is greatly appreciated.

I received the following email from the Friends of Kilmorie.

“Friends of Kilmorie have been working behind the scenes of all your school events for years and are always happy to see Kilmorie children enjoying themselves! It makes us proud and happy to spend all our extra time providing fun for you when we see positive attitudes and a real sense of joy when you are exploring with your parents whether it’s at our winter fair, or the Early Years Garden Party or even the after school cake sales! What makes us even more proud is when we see the children at an event like the disco- where there are little to no parent chaperones and still the children are at their best! Sharing with friends, dancing to their favourite music, politely ordering their favourite drinks, or queuing up for the lucky dip!

We have had many adult volunteers who've explained how impressive the children’s behaviour was at this year’s disco! And we want you all to know that it means a lot to hear that and makes us feel even more sure that our jobs are worth doing!”

In addition to last week’s message about road safety, please can I ask parents to park responsibility.  Some carers/ parents park on the double yellow lines in the roads around the school, which in turn limits the vision of pedestrians, including children, when they are crossing the road.
