Kilmorie Primary School Newsletter - 08th May 2026

{item_alt_tag}

Friday 08th May 2026

As always, it has been another busy and exciting week at Kilmorie. We are very much looking forward to our Early Years Garden Party tomorrow and hope to see many of you there, although it is quite likely that I will be getting very wet!

Our children have been out and about making the most of fantastic learning opportunities, with Year 4 visiting Deptford Creek, Year 1 exploring the Horniman Museum, Dolphin Hub visiting Moon Lane Bookshop and Reception enjoying a trip to Surrey Docks Farm. A quick reminder that Sports Day will take place on 21st May at Catford Cyphers, and that Friday 22nd May is an INSET Day. Finally, I would like to wish our Year 6 children every success in their SATs next week; they have been working incredibly hard, and we are all very proud of them.

Governors

Many schools are on the lookout for new Governors.  At Kilmorie we are looking for new, non-parent, Governors.  If you know of anyone who may be interested in joining Kilmorie’s Governing body or in fact any Governing body – please contact the school or use the following site (for school’s other than Kilmorie.)  Governors for Schools - Effective Governors, Excellent Schools

Clothing

Last week’s newsletter included information about suitable summer clothing, primarily to ensure that children are kept safe in the sun. As the warmer weather returns, please can you ensure that your child has suncream applied before the school day begins, brings a clearly labelled water bottle, and wears a sunhat.

I should also clarify that vest tops are not suitable for school, as we want areas that burn easily, including shoulders, to remain covered.

Hockey

Our sporting success continues as Kilmorie sent two hockey teams (Year 4/5) to a competition on Wednesday.  One team won the competition, with the other narrowly missing out on second place by one goal scored.  We are proud of all the children who participated; they worked hard and made the evening enjoyable.

Saturday 9 May
11.30am - 2.30pm

It’s nearly time! This event raises funds that are ringfenced for the Early Years classes. Last year, we raised enough to be able to fund an upgrade the outdoor play equipment like the sandpits, trikes, water play station and Year 1 mud kitchen.

Our final ask is for cakes (or any type of baked good!) for the Dad’s Café. You can bring them in on Saturday. If they are homemade, please include a list of ingredients.

We look forward to welcoming you tomorrow!
