Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to begin by extending a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of last week’s Early Years Garden Party. In particular, we are immensely grateful to those who gave their time on Friday evening and Saturday morning to help set up, as well as those who stayed behind afterwards to support the clearing up. Your efforts ensured that the event ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all. A wonderful time was had by everyone — myself included, even if I did end up completely soaked at the “Soak the Teacher” stall!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Congratulations must also go to our Year 6 children, who have now completed their SATs.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work, resilience, and positive attitude throughout the week. The organisation of SATs requires significant support from across the whole school community, and I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and patience — including the temporary adjustments such as delayed breaktimes.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has been another busy week, with several educational visits taking place, including to the Horniman, the Farm, Deptford Creek and Mayow Park. Unfortunately, the ever-unpredictable spring weather has reminded us of its harsher side, but despite the conditions, our pupils have shown enthusiasm and resilience as always.

This was the playground on Thursday at 4pm.  It looked more December than May.

Looking ahead, please remember that Sports Day will take place on Thursday, the Marchetti family will be selling tea/coffee and pastries for parents/carers.   The school will be closed on Friday for INSET Day.

Deptford Creek

On Monday, Jo's Year 4 class went to the Deptford Creek Visitor Centre as part of their geography topic of Rivers and Coasts.  They looked at artefacts which had been found in the river - from such industries as the railways, a blacksmith's, slaughterhouse and potteries.  When the tide was out they walked along the river bed itself, finding wildlife such as freshwater shrimps, leeches, crabs and clams, and doing a scientific experiment to find out how fast the river was flowing.  Everyone had a brilliant time and learnt lots of exciting things.

Lost property will be out every day next week on the astro by the old Peaceful Pod. Children can look through the boxes during the day and they will be out before and after school for parents as well as after WRAP.  The boxes will be labelled, please keep them  tidy so it is easier to find missing items.

The attached photo is of the Gardening Crew who came in April to get the gardens ready for our Open Garden event; they weeded, pruned, swept and mulched.  Throughout the years our gardens have been maintained and improved by parents, carers and children, we really do have a community garden.  The current gardening news is that the seeds planted by Reception, lettuce, carrots and peas are starting to grow, Year 4 have been lucky recently as they are currently eating fresh peas straight from the pod from peas they planted last autumn.  On Wednesday of this week with Vicky's class, we witnessed quite amazing scenes in the Wild Garden, two young blue tits were spotted on the floor, we wondered whether they had been knocked out of a nest after a strong hailstorm we had recently experienced.  We watched as an adult, assumed to be the parent flew down and fed one of the baby birds, quite an amazing sight.  The children then searched for worms to help the parents and really enjoyed the chance to see the birds in their natural environment.

Join Our Pride Picnic!

Friday 5 June
3.30pm - 7pm

So many of you got behind last year’s event, showing your love and support for the LGBTQ community - it felt only right to hold it again.

This year, we're adding live music to the event!

Fellow Kilmorie Parent, Michael.G.Moore - The Piano Animal, will be bringing some fabulous live music.

He'll be playing between 4-6pm, so get ready to dance and make a request or two - this part is actively encouraged!!

Like last year, we'll have a well-stocked bar and some snacks, however, we're encouraging you to pack a picnic and blanket, gather the family and get a spot on the green to enjoy music, dancing and socialising with our wider community.

For all the details – visit our FoK Blogsite

Mini Marathon

Please support our mini London marathoners!

Next Saturday 25 April, a team of 25 Kilmorie kids from Reception to Year 6 will be taking part in the mini London Marathon and raising money for our school. They’re all super excited to be part of this iconic event and have been training hard for the challenge!

If you are able to, they would love it if you could support by sponsoring them. Any amount is gratefully received and your sponsorship will help spur them on in the last week of training before the event.

Thank you!
