Friday 25th September 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you have had a pleasant week and have enjoyed the unexpectedly warm weather for this time of year.

It has been another busy and productive week at Kilmorie. We began the week with an assembly marking the end of Inclusion Week. I spoke to the children about the importance of diversity and ensuring that everyone feels included, valued and represented, both within our school community and in wider society. It was wonderful to see the thoughtful discussions this theme inspired across the school.

As you will read below, our first school trip of the year took place this week, with pupils visiting Southwark Cathedral. Experiences such as these enrich the curriculum and provide valuable opportunities for children to learn beyond the classroom.

On Wednesday, we held our first Governors' Committee meeting of the academic year. During the meeting, we discussed our key school improvement priorities for the coming year, which I will share with parents following the next Full Governing Body meeting in early October. Governors also celebrated the achievements reflected in last year's outcomes across the school, including Early Years Foundation Stage, Phonics, the Multiplication Tables Check and Key Stage 2 results. Alongside these successes, we identified areas where continued focus is needed, particularly in developing pupils' writing.

Please note that there is a sickness bug going around the school; we are constantly cleaning the toilets and communal areas to reduce the risk of the bug spreading.  If your child does develop the bug, we advise that they are off school for 48 hours. After the last “incident”.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another exciting week ahead at Kilmorie.

Question to discuss with your children.

If you could have any superpower, what would you do with it?

As part of their learning about Christianity in RE, Jo's Year 4 class visited Southwark Cathedral this week. They were taken on a trail around the church, finding out about different symbols found in places of worship and discovering more about the different items found in churches and cathedrals.  They then took part in a workshop, making fish puppets to remind them about the fish symbol used by Christians.

Everyone learnt a huge amount and had lots of fun!

The Little Recyclers will be collecting all of the lost property on Friday 23rd October.   During the last week of term the lost property will be in boxes by the Peaceful Pod on the small piece of astro turf. Children will be able to look through during this last week. We encourage you to keep checking prior to the collection day.

ASI Nagpur's annual schools event scheduled in October - Nagpur Today ...

Over the past few months, we have held a number of events outdoors, which have been hugely enjoyable and a fantastic way to come together as a school community.

May I kindly ask that, at these events—such as Sports Day, picnics and the Summer Fair—rubbish is disposed of responsibly and that children are supervised, particularly at events taking place outside of school hours. We are very fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who help run these occasions; however, they often spend a considerable amount of time at the end of events clearing up litter left behind by others.

Your support in helping to keep our school environment clean and safe is greatly appreciated.
