Parents, teachers and the children take an active role in our school life and it is important that we all sign the agreement below to endorse our commitment to what we are aiming to achieve.

Kilmorie Primary School Home School Agreement

Alongside academic achievement, as a community we strive to help children develop the qualities shown above during their time at Kilmorie. The purpose of this home school agreement is to identify and agree ways in which parents/carers, staff and children can work together to achieve this.

We expect all members of our school community to:
Show respect, care and consideration to all
Challenge unacceptable, unkind behaviour
Care for our school environment
Promote good learning behaviour

The school will:

  • Provide a safe, stimulating environment where children feel confident to try new things, ask for help if they need it, take risks and work together to ask and find the answers to questions
  • Ensure that the curriculum (which fulfils the requirements of the National Curriculum), is engaging, purposeful and challenging. We want our curriculum to encourage creativity, curiosity and a love of learning
  • Develop in each child positive values and a caring attitude towards each other, the school and wider community and the environment
  • Communicate between home and school through the website, noticeboards, letters, texts and general meetings
  • Welcome parents/carers whenever they visit the school and respond to their questions or concerns as quickly as possible
  • Set regular home school learning tasks or projects and to mark this if appropriate
  • Provide a free book bag for every child who starts the school
  • Contact parents/carers as soon as concerns are raised about their child’s work, behaviour attendance or punctuality

The parents/carers will:

  • Ensure that their child attends school regularly, is punctual, properly equipped and ready to learn
  • Raise any problems or concerns that might affect their child’s ability to learn or behave appropriately
  • Support their child with any home school learning tasks or projects as well as listen to their child read every day (or in the case of older children encourage them to read daily and talk to them about the books they are reading)
  • Support all staff in their efforts to create a caring community which values children and their rights, raising any concerns in an appropriate manner with due respect to school policy
  • Attend parents meetings with the teacher to discuss their child’s achievements and progress
  • Inform the school immediately of any changes to parents or carer and emergency contact details
  • Support the school to ensure their child maintains good behaviour

The child will

  • Promote good learning behaviour
  • Show respect, care and consideration to all
  • Care for our school environment
  • Challenge unacceptable, unkind behaviour
  • Tell a member of staff if they are worried about anything
  • Bring their book bag in every week to change their book and read at home every day
