image of headteacherDear Parents and Carers,

Well, here we are at the end of an incredibly busy and successful year.

Even though it was the last week, we were still out on educational visits:

  • In year 3 Elis' & Jo G's classes visited the Dulwich Picture Gallery and had as much fun as Maria and Simone’s class last week. The art activities were a lovely way to end such a busy year. Here are some photos.

  • Year 6 have had a very busy week of celebrations. Last night was their disco, where much fun was had by everyone. Today we had a wonderful leavers' assembly where they shared memories, dance routines and sang a lovely song that brought tears to everyone’s eyes. They finished off their days at primary school with a picnic lunch. Whilst I have only known these children for the last two years, it has been a pleasure to witness how much they have grown socially and emotionally, as well as academically in that time.

Thank you to everyone who still came out to support the barbecue last week, despite the wet weather! We're delighted to have raised £4220 in total, on top of £1114 from the raffle and £481 from t-shirt sales. FoK are very grateful to all the staff and parents who helped with the barbecue, particularly the creative team (led by Rina) for the wonderful, whimsical decorations, plus all the parents and staff who volunteered on a stall. We're also indebted to Winkworth Forest Hill, who once again generously donated over £1000 in sponsorship money to the school!

Over the course of this academic year, FoK will have donated around £29,000 to the school. To find out what this money has been used for, please come along to the FoK AGM on Monday 25th September.

We have received a number of comments following the note which went out yesterday on Enrichment Clubs for the Autumn Term 2023. As a result, we are going to review the offer and will be issuing updated information ahead of bookings opening during the first weekend in September.

Whilst we have missed the National Ice Cream Day (16th July), it would be great if we could support the charity by making a donation.  We have used this charity most years to support families, and it would be wonderful if we could give something back.

Message from the Family Holidays Charity, If you can donate the cost of an ice cream to help families, it would be most appreciated.

Ready, Set, Read! The Summer Reading Challenge is coming to Lewisham libraries. This is a great opportunity for children to come to their local library in the holidays, join and complete the challenge. Children just need to sign up at their nearest library, read 6 books and collect prizes along the way. Children who complete it get a medal and a certificate presented in school.

Please be vigilant to help keep us all safe: further to the letter shared from Lewisham Sergeant Geoff Warren. We are being informed that there has been some suspicious activity happening around Lewisham and as we approach the school holidays, we urge you all to be vigilant.

Further to my previous newsletter and to aid with planning for the mayor's introduction of Free School Meals for all primary aged children. This very short questionnaire will enable us to gauge how many additional children in KS2 are hoping to take up the offer next year. Please complete it for each of your children before Wednesday 26th July so Chartwells can plan accordingly.

To all of those moving on, staff and children, I would like to wish them every success and happiness in their next step I hope everyone has a wonderful break and I look forward to welcoming all children back on Wednesday 6th September.

Kind regards

Julie
