Community Allies
Who we are
Kilmorie Community Allies are a group of parents, teachers and governors who aim to create an inclusive, anti-racist school environment. We want to make sure families and children from the global majority feel understood, supported and represented at Kilmorie. We do that by:
- advocating for equity so support goes to the people who most need it
- using research to evidence and prioritise the work we do
- raising money to fund anti-racism events, teacher training and learning resources for the school
We’d love for people to join us and help in any way they can. Email us at contact@kilmorie-allies.org if you’d like to find out more.
What we’ve done so far
The allies meet regularly to agree and organise activities, including research and fundraising.
Research
We’ve done research, including surveys and interviews, to understand:
- the experiences of parents, children and teachers at Kilmorie and other schools
- what more the school could and should be doing to promote inclusion at Kilmorie
Embedding allyship in school life
We organised an art club where volunteers ran sessions with children, helping them to express what inclusion and allyship means to them.

We also set up a noticeboard in the main corridor to celebrate the rich diversity of our school community. It shows some of the children’s work, and reminds everyone about upcoming cultural events.

Unicef Rights Respecting School
We helped the school start its work to become a Unicef Rights Respecting School - we achieved Silver: Rights Aware in 2026.
Fundraising
We’ve raised money from bake sales to fund cultural events and learning resources.

Events
We’ve run a range of events so far, including:
- Christmas show at the 2024 Winter Fair
- Wild garden takeover at the 2025 Early Years Fair
- Henna tattoo stall at the 2026 Early Years Fair
- Allies community picnic
- Catapluf percussion workshops
Here are some pictures from the henna tattoo stall:
